The flat is located in Cologne Nippes, an old Cologne quarter. The location is quiet and yet conveniently situated. Only a few steps lead to the train and bus stop Köln-Nippes, from where you can reach the main station and thus the city centre in 4 minutes. In 6 minutes you can reach the Köln-Messe.

The district of Nippes is a lively neighbourhood.

The most important artery is Neusser Straße, a well-known and popular „shopping mile“. In the immediate vicinity of this is Wilhelmplatz, which attracts many locals with its daily supply of fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, eggs, spices, textiles and household goods. This is where the street carnival in the neighbourhood is heralded on Wieverfastelovend.

The „Sechzigviertel“ (Sechzigstraße, Hartwichstraße and side streets) has its own urban character. It dates back to the settlement of employees of the former railway works and is now home to a colourful mix of young and old people from many countries. The outskirts of the district are lined with recreational green spaces, such as the „Nippeser Tälchen“ in the north, the „Nippeser Schweiz“ in the southwest, the „Lohsepark“ in the south and the „Johannes-Giesberts-Park“ in the east.

Places worth seeing are:

  • Neusser Straße: shopping mile of the district
  • Wilhelmplatz: Central square with daily fresh produce market
  • Altenberger Hof: Old farmstead with restaurant & beer garden, home to the community centre
  • The Nippeser Tälchen: Green area with water playground for children
  • Em Golde Kappes pub: „Kneip op d’r Eck“ (pub on the corner) served for generations
